Our History

Our History

Access to quality eye care remains limited for many people in Kenya. As in many developing countries, the demand for comprehensive, affordable eye health services exceeds what the government can provide on its own. This gap has left a significant portion of the population without timely diagnosis, treatment, and preventive eye care. Recognizing the need for an alternative eye healthcare model to support government efforts and sustain itself, Dr Daniel Kiage who believed in affordable and quality eye care aspired to create such a system. It is for this very reason that Innovation Eye Centre- Kisii Eye Hospital opened its doors in Kisii, Kenya to the first patient in February 2013. Innovation Eye Centre -Kisii Eye Hospital was inaugurated in November 2013 as the first Specialty Private Eye Hospital in the South Western Kenya region. Due to his commitment to delivering the highest standards of eye care, his passion for advanced technology, and his extensive expertise, Dr. Kiage has earned tremendous support and positive feedback not only from patients but also from the wider community, referring healthcare providers, and the various stakeholders who engage with Innovation Eye Centre.
Over the years, Innovation Eye Centre has developed into an advanced model, our model combines the strength of our state-of-the-art Eye Hospitals in Kisii and Kisumu with a network of Vision Centres. Through our Community Ophthalmology Programs, we reach the underserved with outreach camps, screenings, and treatments. To ensure the future of eye care, our Education and Training programs empower the next generation of eye health professionals through continuous skills upgrading. Today, Innovation Eye Centre is trusted by thousands of patients and their families across East Africa, not only for its exceptional clinical care but also for its commitment to community outreach, eye health education, and the use of advanced technology. Through its programs and partnerships, the Centre continues to expand access to quality eye care, ensuring that even underserved communities can benefit from life-changing services.
