Dr Kiage has served in several leadership positions in the field of Eye Care in the region and
globally including: –
President – Ophthalmology Society of Eastern Africa [OSEA]
Vice President – Africa Ophthalmology Forum [AOF]
Board member – Middle East Africa Council of Ophthalmology[MEACO]
Member of Board of Trustees – International Council of Ophthalmologist [ICO]
Vice-President – International Joint Commission for Accreditation of Health Professionals in Ophthalmology [IJCAHPO]
Dr. Kiage brings valuable skills from government, mission/ charity and University teaching and research set up.

Dr. Daniel Kiage

Chief Medical Director, Innovation Eye Centre

Dr. Daniel Kiage is the Founder and Chief Medical Director of Innovation Eye Centre whose main
objective is to eliminate preventable and avoidable blindness. He is a renowned ophthalmologist in Africa, qualified as an Ophthalmologist in Kenya from the University of Nairobi and has over 27 years’ experience in the Eye Care Sector. He also holds a glaucoma clinical and research fellowship from the University of Ottawa, Canada. Is the winner of the prestigious IAPB Vision Excellence Award 2020 among several other awards.
Dr. Kiage has worked in the following places as an Ophthalmologist.
1. Assistant Professor and Head of Ophthalmology Department, Aga Khan University Hospital [7 years]. Dr. Kiage oversaw the establishment of the section of ophthalmology by refurbishing a larger clinic space, sourcing for appropriate equipment for Operating Theatre and Consultant clinics, training nursing staff through the JCAHPO curriculum and hiring of more ophthalmologists in readiness for establishing a residency training program.
2. Medical Director, Lighthouse for Christ Eye Centre – Mombasa [6 years]. During his tenure at the Lighthouse for Christ Eye Centre, the cataract surgery was more than tripled from just over500 per year to about 2000 under his leadership. He oversaw sourcing of funds to construct a new clinic and establishing clinical and management systems for sustainability.
3. Provincial Zonal Eye Surgeon Nyeri, Central Kenya Province [2 years]. As a Zonal Eye Surgeon at the Nyeri Provincial Hospital and the surrounding areas he stepped up the existing awareness and outreach programs that enabled him to win an award from the National Ophthalmic Program for best performance.

Jacqueline Kiage

COO & Programme Manager

Jacqueline Kiage is a Co-Founder of Innovation Eye Centre. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and Chemistry from Egerton University. She holds an MBA in Global Business and Sustainability – Social Entrepreneurship from Catholic University of Milan, Italy & Tangaza University College, Kenya.
Jacqueline holds a Certificate – Hospital Management Training and Systems Development, LAICO Aravind Eye Care System India.
She is also an Environmentalist.
